This is the home page of Prof. Thomas L. Beck in the Chemistry Department at the University of Cincinnati. This group works in the areas of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. Projects are underway in computer simulations of liquid surfaces, mixtures, phase equlibria, polyelectrolytes, large scale electrostatics and electronic structure methods with multigrid techniques, and simulations of ion transport in membrane proteins. The graduate students in my group are Nobunaka Matsuno (multigrid electrostatics), Jason Clohecy (simulations of liquid chromatographic interfaces), and Uma Mahankali (membrane channels) Nimal Wijesekera is a grad student in the physics department and he is working on the multigrid electronic structure project. Guogang Feng is a postdoc working on molecular electronics applications using our multigrid method. Zhifeng Kuang and Jian Yin are postdocs working on modeling of ion transport in membrane channels. Dr. Anping Liu, a former postdoc, is now the Director of Molecular Modeling in the Chemistry Department; he is in charge of the Silicon Graphics and Linux machines and the modeling software packages (MSI, CHARMM, Amber, Gaussian, etc.). He works on simulation of fluid mixture phase diagrams and polyelectrolyte systems.
