Exams: There will be 2 midterms and one final examination. There will be no retakes on exams; if you miss one your scores on the other exams will be averaged appropriately to get the final percentage grade. If you do miss an exam I will need to see a written doctor’s memo or other valid written excuse. You cannot miss the final. In addition, homework problems will be regularly assigned. I will not grade them but will post solutions. It is essential that you do the homeworks for you to perform well on the exams. Each midterm will be 100 points total and the final will be 200 points. Your grade will be determined by your total score.  In addition, this quarter I will take attendance in class and starting the second week we will have problem solving sessions on Fridays; you are expected to be prepared and participate in those sessions. These components will comprise about 10% of your grade for the course.

Exam dates:  Apr. 24 and May 22; Finals week begins Jun. 8. The date of the final is posted on the UC webpage.

Course Outline: This course concerns the quantum mechanics of physical chemistry. We will attempt to cover Chapters 9-15 of the text. We will proceed through the text in the order of the chapters.
