UC Department of Chemistry Wiki is up and running.

On November 15th, 2006 David Rogers spent some time installing this wiki website on the computer provided to him courtesy of Dr. Beck (rm. 1301 Cros.). It is hoped that the wiki format will encourage group participation and collaboration within the Department in the creation of the website.

For the uninitiated, a wikis have pages which are dynamic and can be edited by any user (page's edit link). In order to ensure that content is not defaced, all edits are stored forever and can be accessed via a page's history link.

Wiki Status

Right now anyone can create a username via Special:Userlogin. However, once most people have registered themselves, this policy can be changed. I recommend you choose your username as your real name (e.g. "David Rogers"). The space is accepted in the username. In addition, the Private Sections below can only be viewed/edited by people in our Department -- you will have to wait for Rogers to manually add you to the UC group. Anyone with a username not adhering to the "First Last" policy will not be added to the UC group.

Available Functionalities

This wiki has been designed for both public and private information exchange. Any page that is not listed in the private section below can be viewed by the public. This wiki has been setup such that no anonymous edits are possible, therefore to participate, you must create an account.

The new site for this server (bessie.che.uc.edu) is reachable from outside the UC intranet, so content you post here is now officially public.

Public Sections

Private Sections

In order to make the most content available to the public, it is recommended that you not use the sections below to post data unless you don't want the information to be avalable to the everyone (e.g. journal articles, IP, etc.). However, you are free to link back and forth between pages, since the general public can only see the titles of the pages in the following sections.

Note: Only names beginning the tags CGSA or Beck Lab followed by colons (e.g. CGSA:xxx) are in the special private class. In these sections, only the names of the pages (and not the content) are viewable to the public. Note that all uploaded files are world-readable. For any other questions, drop me an email (rogersdd at email.uc.edu).
